A huge welcome to BYMT's new CEO

We are delighted to announce a new CEO/ Head of Service for BYMT. As you know the current principal, Ian Rowe is moving to a new position at Farringtons School at the end of the summer term. The BYMT trustees and senior leadership team are thrilled that from September 2019, Gerald Sterling will join BYMT to lead the service into the next phase of its evolution.    Gerald is a very experienced leader, educator and musician with over 20 years experience in teaching music and the music education profession. He has held leadership roles in both Lewisham and Lambeth music services and is the current head of service at Lambeth. Gerald is also the director of In Harmony Lambeth, a social action programme designed to enrich the lives of young people in Lambeth through musical excellence. As a clarinetist, Gerald actually began his peripatetic teaching career in Bromley and is delighted to be returning to us as our new CEO/ Head of Service.
Gerald said, “ BYMT has an excellent reputation for providing high-quality musical opportunities for all its students - I look forward to joining the team and supporting this work"
The trustees and senior leadership team are very excited to welcome Gerald to BYMT and know that he is looking forward to meeting parents, students and teachers when he joins us in September.
We are all very grateful to Ian Rowe for his excellent work at BYMT over the past six years and will be arranging a celebration to wish him well in his new role. More details to follow.
